I Am Honored to be a Liebster Award Nominee

I was so excited to discover that Lavender Linen & Lace was nominated for the Liebster Award by Breanna McKay of Bre McKay!  I am so honored to be a nominee for this award.  How amazing that my little known (as of right now) blog would be recognized like this.  Thank you so much Bre, I simply cannot thank you enough for this little boost of confidence.

Starting a blog is a daunting and sometimes terrifyingly exciting journey but there are so many amazing bloggers out there who are so happy to offer support and help that the journey is so worth it.  Having a little recognition for how hard you have been working in the beginning can help you remember why you started blogging in the first place and encourage you to keep going and never give up.

So once again thank you Bre for this honor, I love connecting with other bloggers and your blog is amazing.  Bre has a simple and very beautiful blog featuring some yummy recipes, DIY, party ideas, and tips on family.  I love it!  There are rules that must be followed when you are nominated:

  1. You have to thank the blog that nominated you.
  2. You have to answer the questions asked by the blog that nominated you.
  3. You have to nominate 11 other new bloggers.
  4. You have to set new questions for your nominees.

Here are the questions that were asked by Bre and my answers:

  1.  What’s your favorite color?  I love so many colors but I tend to gravitate more to pastels, they are so soft and inviting.  I especially love lavender and blue.
  2. What’s your favorite Italian dish?  Love Italian food, lasagna would have to be my favorite.  I make a pretty good one according to my family, it is rare to have leftovers on lasagna night and it is the most requested meal for birthday dinners.
  3. If you could be anyone famous, who would you be?  Probably Marie Antoinette, I love her even though she met such a tragic end she faced it with dignity and grace.  I hope I can always face the trials in my life with dignity and grace.
  4. Would you ever go skydiving? Why or why not?  Oh my goodness no way!  Planes and I don’t agree very well and voluntarily falling from a huge height is not something I would do.
  5. Do you have any siblings?  I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
  6. Do you have any pets?  Yes I always joke we have a small zoo.  My husband and daughter are complete animal lovers so we have 2 horses, 2 dogs, and 5 cats (I am the crazy cat lady in training lol).  We love them all and they add so much to our lives, I can’t imagine not having them.
  7. What is one goal you have set for yourself for 2016?  I want to continue to grow my blog, I am excited to see where this journey takes me.
  8. What is something you splurge on?  Shoes and makeup, two of my favorite things.
  9. What is your favorite flower?  Roses for sure, all colors and types.  Roses remind me of my grandmother’s roses, she had a huge garden of them and I would spend as much time as I could smelling each one when I was little.
  10. Share your favorite blog post that you have written so far.  My favorite post so far would have to be my most recent one my Spring Flowers Burlap and Lace Banner it was so much fun to do.
  11. What’s your favorite social media outlet?  Right now I am loving Pinterest and Instagram.

Here are my nominees:

Cynthia Kohut-Koett of Saving and Simplicity.  She blogs about budgeting (which I need to improve on), simple living, being debt free and more.

  1. Jacqueline Gikow says:

Here are the questions for my nominees:
    1. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I would live right where I am living – Manhattan, NY. I’ve lived here for around 28 years after living all over the country. I live here because it is the same pace as I live. Also, because when people move to NYC, they immediately become from here, rather than from somewhere else.
It is the only place I’ve ever lived where I didn’t feel out of place. And I would especially live in the neighborhood I currently live it, the Upper West Side, where I am a block away from Central Park.

    2. What song represents your life the most?
This is a hard question for me because one of the things I do is teach Zumba (Aqua Zumba to be specific). So I am listening (dancing) to music all the time. So, all I can say is this is my song of the day: Better When I’m Dancin’ by Meghan Trainor.

    3. What is your favorite go-to meal on a busy night?
Grilled turkey burger, broccoli, and a sweet potato

    4. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I expect to to be established as a wellness coach, still teaching aquatic fitness, writing and speaking about staying active and healthy as we get older.

    5. What would your ideal day be like?
Breakfast at my favorite diner (still looking for one), coach a client in realizing their own potential, play with my cat, lunch with a friend, do a watercolor painting (I do one every day), either teach an aquatics class, or take one, spend time writing a new book, play with the cat, dinner (either alone or with a significant other), play around on Facebook, write in my journal, bed.

    6. Why did you decide to start blogging?
I am a relatively new fitness and wellness professional. I designed my website to attract clients and started a blog to educate and entertain potential clients.

    7. What are you most grateful for and why?
I am grateful I am healthy and able to be as active as I am. I am grateful for the genes I inherited from my parents that let me maintain my vitality. I know that in spite of all it, this (life) could end at any moment, so finally I am grateful to be able to live each day to it’s fullest.

    8. Are you a cat or dog person?
I would have said I was a dog person until I got a cat three months ago. Cats are much more my style, which is independent with tendencies towards arrogance.

    9. What inspires you the most?
I am inspired by design and creativity. I believe we are our best by our ability to order things (design) and apply personal perspective (creativity) to every act.

    10. If you could have any superpower what would it be?
I have a superpower. My superpower is an ability to understand abstract concepts and make them concrete so others understand them as well.

    11. What was the last book you read, did you love it or hate it?
The last book I read, I am rereading right now. It is Coaching; a Psychology Manual. I have been transformed by this book, which is the text for the wellness coaching certification I am currently studying for.
