This is a quick and easy little DIY project that can be done in an afternoon and the result is a simple French Country lavender basket that looks great anywhere. I got this basket when a friend sent me a plant from a flower shop a few years ago. Since I don’t have much of a green thumb the poor plant died though I swear I tried to keep it alive, sadly all my efforts did not pay off and I was left with an empty basket. I kept it thinking that I would find a use for it eventually and I did.
I had this Waverly chalk paint already on hand, it can be purchased at Walmart, it is very inexpensive and a little really goes a long way. I already had the floral foam on hand from some other projects. I found the flowers at Michael’s for 40% off when I was there a few weeks ago…score!
I just painted the basket with the white chalk paint, I didn’t really go for too much of an even full coverage as I wanted it to look a little worn and rustic.
I didn’t paint the inside of the basket because I was filling it with flowers, however, you could paint the whole thing depending on your preference and what you are doing with it. After the paint dried, I hot glued a block of floral foam in the bottom of the basket. I separated my flowers from the main stem with a pair of wire cutters and arranged them in the basket.
And that’s it! I think it turned out pretty cute. I was initially going to put this out on my porch but after I set it on my dining table I decided to keep it there for awhile. It is just so soft and pretty. Like a basket full of spring, if that doesn’t sound too cheesy. Do you have anything lying around your house that you could upcycle into something pretty? I would love to hear about any projects you have done that are similar.Share This:
